I paid for my girlfriend's groceries in Illinois, while sitting on a couch in Hong Kong.

I know this is not surprising to most here, but it blows the mind of anyone I get talking to about bitcoin. Basically the girlfriend was out at an small international food grocer and sent me a text saying they accept bitcoin. She didn't have a Bitcoin wallet but I said "ask if you can pay using Bitcoin and message me a photo of the QR code". She did, and I paid it instantly, and I was just over 8000 miles away.

That right there puts everything into perspective. Anyone who has sent money overseas via banks knows how much hassle it is, how much it costs them, how long it takes and how it is never less than a sizeable amount.

News channels should show someone paying for someone else's purchase across the globe.
