The average Joe won't "get it" for some time. If you asked the average Joe in 1995 about the internet, they would have dismissed it too. They didn't have an use for the internet yet. The same is going to be true for bitcoin.
It's early, bitcoin, isn't going anywhere. It will take time for it to catch on and for the average joe to find uses for it, but it will happen.
A few of my "average joe" friends started to use it for online sports betting.
